# DIRECTV Error 775: SWiM Network Not Found, and How to Fix It

> Error 775 means the receiver is having trouble communicating with the satellite dish. On commercial systems it is labeled SWiM Network Not Found, and the usual culprit is the small SWiM Power Inserter losing power or a loose coax connection.

## At a glance

**Error code:** 775

**What it means:** The receiver is having trouble communicating with the satellite dish. On DIRECTV for Business it is labeled "SWiM Network Not Found."

**Likely causes:**
- Equipment was recently moved to another room or location
- A loose coax connection at the SWiM Power Inserter, the receiver SAT-IN port or the wall plate
- The SWiM Power Inserter is not getting steady power (power strip, switch-controlled outlet or a bad outlet)

**Quick fix:**
1. If equipment was recently moved, move it back
2. Make sure all four coax connections are finger-tight: the inserter's two ports, the receiver SAT-IN port and the wall plate
3. Unplug the SWiM Power Inserter, wait until its green light fully fades out, plug it back in, wait about 30 seconds and check for a steady green light
4. If the light is not steady green, plug the inserter into a wall outlet instead of a power strip, or try a different outlet
5. Avoid outlets controlled by a wall switch, because the inserter must stay powered on

**If it continues:** Call Sports Direct General Support at 480-941-3703 (Gaming Support: 877-659-9257) if 775 continues after these steps.

**Applies to:** Receivers on a SWiM, SWiM Power Inserter, Satellite dish

## What error 775 means

Error 775 means the receiver is having trouble communicating with the satellite dish. On DIRECTV for Business it is labeled "SWiM Network Not Found." SWiM (single wire multi-switch) is the setup that lets several receivers share one coax line from the dish, and it depends on a small box called the SWiM Power Inserter staying powered. When that box loses power or a connection comes loose, receivers on the SWiM can lose the dish.

If you are new to the terms, our [glossary](/help/glossary) explains SWiM, SAT-IN and the rest in plain English.

## What usually causes it

DIRECTV points to three situations:

- Equipment was recently moved to another room or location.
- A coax connection is loose at the SWiM Power Inserter, at the receiver's SAT-IN port or at the wall plate.
- The SWiM Power Inserter is not getting steady power, for example because it is on a power strip, on a switch-controlled outlet or on a bad outlet.

## Find the SWiM Power Inserter

It is a small black or gray box on the dish cable with two twist-on coax connections, usually near where the satellite cable enters the building, behind the TV or beside the receiver. In a venue with several TVs, the inserter often sits behind a bar back, in a closet or near a rack, so ask the person who set up the screens where yours is before game day.

## The fix, step by step

1. If someone recently moved a TV, a receiver or other equipment, move it back. That alone often restores service.
2. Make sure all four coax connections are finger-tight: the inserter's two coax ports, the receiver's SAT-IN port and the wall plate.
3. Unplug the inserter and wait until its green light fully fades out. Plug it back in, wait about 30 seconds, and check that the green light is on and steady. Then check the TV.
4. If the light does not return to steady green, plug the inserter straight into a wall outlet instead of a power strip. If it is already in a wall outlet, try a different one nearby.
5. Avoid any outlet controlled by a wall switch. The inserter has to stay powered on, and a switch that gets flipped at closing time will take the whole SWiM down.

> **Warning:** Do not plug the inserter into an outlet that a cleaning crew, a timer or a dimmer panel can switch off. In bars and restaurants, that is the most common way this error comes back.

## Why this matters more in a venue

At home, one dead receiver is an inconvenience. In a bar or restaurant, a SWiM problem can take out every screen on the same line at once. Plugging the inserter into a dedicated, always-on outlet and labeling it so staff do not unplug it for another device is a simple way to protect game day. You can read more about how we design for that on our page for [bars and restaurants](/directv-for-bars-and-restaurants).

## Is it 775 or 771?

They can look alike, and both involve the dish. Error [771](/help/error-codes/error-771) points at the satellite signal itself, such as the weather, a blocked view or a cable. Error 775 points at the connection between the receiver and the dish through the inserter. If both appear together, start with the inserter's power and the connections described above.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is a SWiM Power Inserter and where is it?

It is a small black or gray box on the dish cable with two twist-on coax connections. It supplies power to the SWiM setup so receivers can talk to the dish. Look near where the satellite cable enters the building, behind the TV or beside the receiver.

### How long should I wait after unplugging the inserter?

Wait until the green light has fully faded out before plugging it back in; DIRECTV's article does not give a number of seconds. After plugging it in, wait about 30 seconds and confirm the light is steady green.

### Why does 775 keep coming back at closing time?

A wall-switch outlet is a common reason. If the inserter loses power whenever the lights or an outlet circuit are switched off, the SWiM goes down with it. Move the inserter to an outlet that stays on.
