## What the bridge does

The Wireless Video Bridge (WVB) carries video wirelessly from a Genie server to wireless Genie Mini clients, over a private network that only DIRECTV products can use. For a business, that means an extra TV can be added without running coax or network cable to it. The bridge needs a SWiM installation, a Genie server and at least one wireless Genie Mini. The light table below comes from the Gen2 product manual, which is dated October 2017, so treat it as the reference for that model.

## How to read the front light

Start with the color, then the pattern (solid or blinking):

- **Blue** is the healthy family. Blinking blue means the bridge is booting, and the manual says it should start within 10 seconds of power on. Solid blue is normal operation, with wireless clients connected to the Genie server.
- **Green** describes the link to the Genie server. Solid green means the connection is good but no clients are paired. Blinking green means the bridge is in survey or beacon mode with the MoCA network connected, but the Genie server is not communicating with it.
- **Yellow** points at the MoCA network between the bridge and the server. Blinking yellow means no MoCA network was detected, and solid yellow means one was established at a MoCA PHY rate under 180 Mbps. The manual says in both cases the issue is not with communication between the bridge and the wireless clients.
- **Red** means trouble. Solid red means the bridge has a good connection to the Genie server but a poor wireless connection to one or more clients. Blinking red means a device error was detected.

Two mixed patterns show a mode rather than a fault: blinking green and yellow is survey or beacon mode with no MoCA network yet established, and blinking green and blue is wireless client add mode.

> **Note:** The manual lists no action for most of these states. Where DIRECTV's other guides give a step, we have included it in the table above; where they do not, call for help rather than guessing.

## A healthy start-up

DIRECTV's replacement guide says to wait about 2 minutes for the bridge to fully power up. After that you should see a solid blue light on the bridge and a solid green network light on each wireless Genie Mini. If a Genie Mini does not show video and menus within 2 minutes, reset it with the red reset button on its side panel.

## Adding a wireless client

Solid green means the bridge is connected to the Genie server but has no clients paired. The Gen2 bridge has an Add Client button for this, and clients can also be added from the Add Client screen on the Genie. While pairing is in progress the light blinks green and blue.

## A poor wireless connection

Solid red is the one you will see in a large venue. The bridge is fine and the server connection is good, but one or more clients have a weak wireless link. DIRECTV's Genie Mini setup guides suggest moving a client closer to the server when signal quality is poor. In a bar or banquet room, walls, kitchens and mirrors can all get in the way, so a specialist can help you plan client locations rather than relocating by trial and error.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does a solid blue light on the Wireless Video Bridge mean?

Normal operation. The manual says wireless clients should have a connection to the Genie server. DIRECTV expects a solid blue light on the bridge together with a solid green network light on each wireless Genie Mini.

### Why is the bridge light blinking green?

Blinking green means survey or beacon mode with the MoCA network connected, but the Genie server is not communicating with the bridge. The manual lists no action, so contact support if it does not clear.

### Does solid yellow mean my wireless TVs are broken?

Not necessarily. Yellow describes the MoCA network between the bridge and the server. The manual says the issue is not with communication between the bridge and the wireless clients.
